Best Day of the Week

Feel Fresh with a DIY Face Mask

hemp face mask

I don’t know about you guys, it’s so hard to keep my skin hydrated when winter rolls around. I moisturize twice a day like a responsible human being, but once a week I need to give it a little extra love in the form of a face mask.

Usually, we pick up a couple face masks from Lush (Don’t Look at Me is our fave) but given we’re in full detox mode this month we wanted to try our own concoction.

We rounded up a super nourishing combo of coconut oil, honey, hemp hearts and avocado to create a seriously kick-ass mask.

We started with coconut oil because it failsafe for making skin super smooth  – plus it smells delicious. We added in honey as it’s naturally anti-bacterial making it great for acne, followed by avocado which is packing vitamin E and will moisturize the heck outta your face.

There’s a ton of face masks that use oatmeal, as it’s known to help with dry or irritated skin, but we wanted to try finish our mask off with hemp hearts instead. Reason being, they’re loaded with healthy fats just like oatmeal, but they exfoliate at the same time. Double win. I find some masks with sugar or salt can be a bit abrasive, so hemp hearts were a super gentle alternative.

This makes 3-4 masks, so it’s recommended as a group exercise.

Put all ingredients in a food processor and pulse for about 45 seconds, until the hemp hearts have started to break down. Once your mask is ready to go, apply it generously to your beautiful, clean face. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Use the hemp hearts as an exfoliant as you’re removing the mask by massaging them into your skin. Admire your super soft face in the mirror.

We needed a super healthy beverage to sip on while our face mask set. We whipped up a pretty awesome smoothie, featuring turmeric, hemp hearts, dates, pineapple and cinnamon. Yup, it’s just as good as it sounds. Grab the recipe here.
