Five Reasons to Get Off The Couch This Fall

Apple Picking

It’s Fall, and that means a lot of things: your coziest socks are getting used again, you’re popping the kettle more often than grabbing the ice tray, and there’s no denying that you’re on the couch more (wrapped in blankets, sipping a PSL obvi). So, we’ve put together a couple of our favourite ways to celebrate Fall that are couch-free, for those days you feel like making the most of the season.

Hit the Farm and Go Apple Picking!

Not to sound like apple connoisseurs, but we were obsessing over the Ginger Golden Apples we picked from Applewood Farm Winery just outside of Toronto. These apples couldn’t have been more perfect for our Savoury Apple Salad that we made post farm adventure. After picking a ton of apples, get ready to eat a ton of apples. Check out all the things we made with our apple haul along with a few of our fave recipes by others here.

Make Your Own Pumpkin Pie Granola Parfait

This recipe is so brag-worthy we’ve considered selling it. Seriously though, nothing says Fall is here like the rich flavour of pumpkin and spices. We definitely made this with that in mind… it truly tastes like Fall in a jar! Inspired by the fruit-on-the bottom yogurts we had as a kid, these are great for serving up when you’ve got a group because you can make it ahead of time, and it looks super impressive. Enjoy the granola in a parfait or on its own. Get the recipe here.

Craft Your Own Picture Frame Wreaths

For us, the Fall season demands a fun DIY and these gorgeous wreaths will be the talk of your block! They’re an amazing decor piece to transition from Summer to Fall. What makes them super unique (and rustic) is the rectangular shape of the picture frame… not all wreaths need to be round guys!  Check out how to jazz up your door here.

Add Tarot to Your Life

Years of starting a new school year in the Fall will always make the season feel like a new beginning. So, every September we’re  inspired to learn something new. Last year, that was exploring Tarot for the first time. Now, this isn’t an activity that involves  getting off the couch per se, but it does involve an active mind and if you choose, the company of others. Getting into Tarot has been an amazing experience for the three of us and we encourage others to explore it too. We’ve written an intro guide based on our experience here.

Embrace Fall with a Pumpkin Beer Tasting

Ok guys, this one is the winner! We seriously had a blast doing this. We love pumpkin beer, and each season there’s always a debate about which one is best. Because we love taking things to the next level, we created a handy guide for hosting your own blind pumpkin beer tasting. We took this activity very seriously, paper-bagging each beer and breaking down all the necessary criteria to rate them and ultimately to reach a consensus on THE BEST PUMPKIN BEER!! Find out the outcome, the list of beers, and the criteria here.

Them Apples

We’ve got a great fall soundtrack, perfect for driving to and from the apple farm or working some magic in the kitchen with a Fall recipe
