As you may know by now, we create cocktail pairings for all of our activities, but this has to be the most match-y cocktail we’ve ever created. After going strawberry picking and making jam, we created a cocktail with our homemade jam in it. This move honestly captures the essence of what Best Day of the Week is all about.
You may be thinking: jam…in a cocktail? And to that we say hell yes. Adding jam to a cocktail is a great way to mix up your classic gin and soda or vodka soda. It’s not really different from adding a cocktail syrup or juice, it’s just a bit thicker so it will add some texture (which we loved about it) and subtle sweetness. It’s an underrated and under utilized move in our opinion.
We mixed up gin, lemon juice, strawberry jam and elderflower liqueur. The end result was a little bit boozy, a little bit sweet and all around super smooth.
- 1 oz of gin
- 1/2 oz of elderflower liqueur
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 3/4 tbs of our strawberry jam (or you can use whatever strawberry jam you have on hand)
- Strawberries (for garnish)
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into champagne glasses, top with strawberries. Cheers!
