Hit Up a Gym or Obstacle Course

Guys, I don’t know about you, but the holidays took a toll on our waist lines, plain and simple. We did a lot of baking (hello, Christmas cookie swap) and a fair bit of casual drinking (and not so casual drinking with our Home Alone drinking game).

I’ll get real for a second here and say that when life gets busy, the gym is the first thing to fall to the wayside in my schedule. Sometimes, it just seems tough to do it all, and after a long day at work, I just don’t have it in me. So, the idea of booking some time in to get active as part of our #SundayFunday was something we were all onboard with. Plus, it’s detox month. We’ve already spent some time giving our bodies a little TLC with our bath salts and fresh face mask, and have enjoyed some pretty awesome healthy dishes, like our vegan Buddha bowl, turmeric smooth and chaga tea. Now, it was time to add in some movement!

We thought about doing a group gym session, challenging each other with Fit Bits to see who could log the most steps in a certain time period, but we came across something a little more interesting. Toronto’s Pursuit OCR is an obstacle course and fitness-based playground – or, as they call it: 30,000 square feet of awesome. And let us tell you, it is awesome. We had a ton of fun working up a sweat and jumping in their giant ball pit. Yes, you heard us right. When was the last time you jumped in a ball pit? For us, it was circa age five. And it was just us fun as we remembered.

The great thing about Pursuit OCR – and the idea of on obstacle course in general – is that it provides you with fun, different ways to challenge yourself. They’ve got rings, bars, slides, poles, and low-ride bikes you can take for a spin. And if one challenge is totally out of reach for your body, that’s ok. You can marvel at the others who can do it, and take on the next one.

If you live in Toronto, you can head right to Pursuit OCR and explore their indoor obstacle course.

If you’re not in Toronto, or don’t have access to a rad obstacle course then we’ve got a couple ideas for you:

Our drink of choice this week was good ol’ coconut water. We needed to stay hydrated during our obstacle course adventure, and this totally did the trick.
