Best Day of the Week

Seven Self-Care Ideas

Self-Care with DIY Bath Salts

Sometimes your mind and body just need a little TLC. Other times, you need a whole hell of a lot it. All of us have full-time jobs, so we totally get what it’s like to feel burnt out. There are times where after a long week  instead of FOMO we get JOMO (joy of missing out) because we just need some time to hit pause. Self-care means something different for everyone. The term has been all the rage lately, possibly because it feels like we’re working harder than we ever have, and it’s becoming harder and harder to disconnect. Over the year’s we’ve been collecting our favourite ways to either chill out, give our bodies some much needed love or boost immunity. So here we go…

Have an Epic Spa Day at Home Whether it’s just you, or your nearest and dearest, an at-home spa day will leave you feeling refreshed. We’re talking a little face mask action, manicures and body scrubs. You can work in as much or as little DIY as you’d like. We bought our face masks, but DIY’d the scrubs. Follow our lead here.

Make Some Incredibly Healthy Chaga Tea If you’ve had a super easy week, haven’t been eating healthy and your body is feeling it then Chaga tea is for you. A cup of tea made from these mushrooms is packed with antioxidants, are anti-inflammatory, aid digestion, are known to boost metabolism and immunity, not to mention they fight cancer. So safe to say your body will be thanking you. Grab our Chaga tea recipe here. Tap Into Tarot Cards for Guidance Self-care is also important when you’re overwhelmed. Maybe you have to make an important life decision or something is just weighing on your and you’re in need of a little guidance. This is a great time for consulting The Tarot. If you’re not familiar with The Tarot, it’s a deck of 78 cards, each one with its own symbolism and name. The cards can be used to tap into the answers that we already have inside of us. Our favourite Tarot resource, Biddy Tarot explains it like this: it’s like holding up a mirror to yourself so that you can access your subconscious mind and tap into the wisdom (and answers) that lives in us all. Check out our Tarot guide for beginners here. Make This Super Nourishing Avocado Hemp Face Mask A little face mask can go a long way. And this one in particular goes a mile. It’s packed with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry already that will leave your face soft AF. It’s got avocado, coconut oil, honey and hemp hearts. You’ll feel crazy fresh and won’t be able to stop touching your crazy soft face. Grab the recipe here. Sip a Vanilla Mint Matcha Latte A warm bevy can do wonders. It’s super comforting when you’re feeling stressed and helps to combat seasonal depression (Canadians know a thing or two about this, trust us). This vanilla mint matcha latte is perfect when you need a little somethin’ somethin’. Matcha is super healthy, so if you’re looking to do a detox day then grab our recipe here. Make Homemade Bath Bombs for a Relaxing Soak A hot bath is totally our go-to self-care routine. Having a good soak at the end of a long day can make you an entirely new person. Adding in some essential oils with a store-bought or DIY bath bomb will take that bath to the next level. Our favourite store-bought bombs are from Lush, but we’ve also got a really easy bath bomb-making tutorial here. Or Go the Easier Route with DIY Bath Salts If you’re looking to make a DIY part of your self-care routine, but want to go an easier route than a bath bomb, then bath salts are for you. They’re super easy to make and you still get the benefit of essential oils. We’ve got ideas for three different variations here. Recover with Ginger Ginseng Iced Tea If you’re needing some self-care because you’ve got a wicked hangover, then let this iced tea swoop in to save your life. Ginger is one of the best remedies for settling a sore stomach, ginseng will reduce that blood alcohol level and honey’s got fructose which will help your body burn the alcohol in your system. Grab the recipe here.
