Paper Plane

paper plane cocktail

The first time we took a sip of a Paper Plane we were in love. It’s a boozy cocktail invented fairly recently (2007) by bartender Sam Ross, co-owner of cocktail bars Attaboy and Diamond Reefthat in New York. It’s made with equal parts bourbon, Amaro Nonino, Aperol and lemon juice and goes down oh so smoothly. Plus, it’s oh so pretty with its bright orange hue.

The drink is supposedly named after M.I.A’s Paper Plane, which also came out in 2007. Another fun fact: while not invented in Toronto, the drink is incredibly popular here, for reasons unknown other than it’s damn good. In fact, it’s so delicious it will win over those that aren’t big fans of bourbon (example: Vanessa. Alyssa and I on the other hand are huge fans of bourbon!). You’ll be drinking this cocktail again and again, and we have no doubt it will go down as one of the classics.

This cocktail is super easy to make. Add all your ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass and serve. Cheersies!
