Tune in to the Super Bowl

Tune in to the Super Bowl

Today’s #SundayFunday was all about the big game. Don’t even pretend you don’t know what big game we’re talking about, because there’s only one: the Super Bowl. Now, we’re not HUGE sports fans, but the Super Bowl is more than just sports – it’s an event that demands to be celebrated. And we can all agree that a big part of that celebration involves food, beer and gambling.  We’re coming out of our January detox, and thank god, because a Super Bowl menu must consist of deep fried goods. For us, that meant jalapeño poppers, fries, wings, veggies with dip and a creation of our very own that we like to call stadium flatbread.  What is stadium flatbread you ask? It’s exactly what you think it is: everything you would ever eat at a stadium all piled into one carb-filled appetizer. We took flatbread and added a base of buffalo sauce followed by a substantial amount of cheddar and mozzarella cheese, then added hot dogs, fries, tomatoes and green onions. Then, we finished it all off with a sour cream and queso drizzle. You may be shocked and disgusted, but to that we say do not knock it til you try it. We can confirm this creation is delicious. Plus, it’s everything you’re going to want to eat today anyways, so why not have it all in one marvellous, hybrid creation. We’ve included the full recipe down below Now on to the gambling part. We made a super sweet prediction sheet you can play with all your Super Bowl-watching pals. It’s got something for everyone – whether you’re there for the half time show or Tom Brady. You can download it here. Here’s the recipe for our stadium flatbread:

Start by baking the fries. While they’re in the oven, place your flatbread on a baking sheet and use a brush to slather on a layer of Buffalo sauce followed by layer of cheese. Add the flatbread in to the oven with your fries for approximately five minutes, or until the cheese melts and the edges are crispy. Top with the sliced hot dog, tomatoes and green onions. Add the fries once they’re cooked. Finish by using a squeeze bottle to drizzle of sour cream and queso. BAM! Today’s beverage pairing was beer. That and cider is pretty much the only option for drinks (if you’re going the alcoholic route) during the Super Bowl – it’s a love affair that will never die. We went for Bud Light (classic) as well as Side Launch’s Wheat Beer and Dry Hopped Sour.
