Host a Christmas Cookie Swap and Win the Holidays

‘Tis the season for eating all the Christmas cookies so this #SundayFunday, we hosted a Christmas cookie swap. If you’re unfamiliar, the concept is simple: everyone wants to roll into Christmas parties and potlucks with a variety of Christmas cookies. But who has the time (or the butter) to bake like, a dozen different types of cookies? No one. A cookie swap simplifies everyone’s baking endeavours. Each person bakes three dozen of one type of cookie, brings it to the swap, and leaves with three dozen different cookies ready to gift (or let’s be honest, eat) — and a ton of recipes to add to their arsenal. It’s a win/win.

First off, when people RSVP have them confirm which cookie they’ll be bringing so three people don’t end up bringing chocolate chip (although that would still be pretty sweet).

On the day of the swap, clear a big table or a few smaller ones for laying out all the cookies. Put out a variety of platters, cake stands, whatever you’ve got. Use card stock to label each cookie, noting if it’s vegan or gluten-free. Set up a packaging station on the same table or close to the cookies, so that people can pack up little bags of cookies to give out as gifts.

Once everyone arrives and unpacks their cookies, let the swapping and taste-testing begin.

We made our swap a real party by setting up a gingerbread decorating session. It brought the house down ad resulted in some pretty sweet little men.

There was a clear cookie winner of our swap: the pistachio and white chocolate pudding cookie. It was absolutely delicious. It’s also green, so it’s super festive. You can grab the recipe here.

We also recommend serving a festive drink at your swap. You could go the coffee and tea route, or you could make this delicious mulled wine. Grab the recipe here.
