We love Halloween so much that we could never just choose one costume a year. In fact, we pretty much wear a costume every chance we get in the days (or you know, a full week) before Halloween.
There are Halloween scenarios when you can go all out and other times when a mini-costume is better suited. For example, my boss probably wouldn’t be that stoked if I showed up in a full face of zombie make-up (but hey, it doesn’t mean I won’t).
This #SundayFunday we decided to make some cool headbands we could pair with make-up to create quick, easy Halloween looks you could wear just about anywhere. This way you can ensure every single person you encounter gets into the Halloween Spirit (it’s an official feeling, hence the capital S). Go ahead, share that enthusiasm like you would mini chocolate bars to the kiddies on Halloween night.
We created four different looks you could easily emulate: a cat, unicorn, doe and bug (Vanessa loves bugs so we had to throw this one in). They can easily go with a number of different outfits to complete the look, we chose fairly simple patterns for each one. The make-up and headband pairing make an instant Halloween look so as long as your outfit has the right colours you’ll be set.
- White felt
- Pink felt
- Silver thread
- Glue gun and glue cartridges
- Stuffing (like what you find inside a teddy bear – you can get this at any craft store)
- Fake flowers (we used white) and leaves
- White headband
- Cut the white felt in the shape of a cone. Roll it into cone formation and use the glue gun to close the side shut, but leaving the bottom of the cone open.
- Add the stuffing to the inside of the cone – or you can even use leftover felt like I did to help make it sturdy.
- Glue the bottom of the cone around the headband and decorate the cone by wrapping the silver thread tightly around it.
- Glue fake flowers to the headband along the base of the horn, adding at least one leaf.
- Cut out four ear shaped pieces out of the white felt leaving them connected at the tip so you can eventually wrap them around the headband and glue them together.
- Cut four smaller ear shaped pieces out of the pink felt, and then glue them to each side of the white ear pieces.
- Celebrate your success – we suggest a drink which we’ll get to in a moment.
The other headbands are just as easy to make! These photos should give you a pretty good idea of everything you need. The steps are similar to the above, you’ll just have to change up some of the materials. Happy crafting!
We obviously sipped on a cocktail while making these guys. It was same the day as our Halloween Girls Night so we were pouring what we’ve dubbed the Beet-le Juice (because – you guessed it – it’s got beet juice in it). You can grab the recipe here.
