Have the Best-Ever At Home Spa Day
I don’t know about you guys, but this week has felt like an eternity. Some weeks just feel longer than others and when Sunday rolls around all you need is a little R&R you know? But taking the time to hit the refresh button on your life doesn’t mean you need to be alone! We decided to have a slow afternoon together and do a bit of an at-home spa day.
We started our day off with a little face mask action (in matching robes obvi). We picked up three different masks from LUSH and literally just lay together as they did their magic. Face masks are great because when you take them off it feels like your skin is breathing for the first time.
From there we did mani pedis, because spring demands it. We each opted for a different shade of pink and you’re never too old for glitter (although a little goes a long way as it can be tough to remove).
Spring is also a great time to give your body a refresh. Your skin hasn’t seen the light of day in some time so it could use a little love. So we did something we’ve never done before but really enjoyed! We made sugar scrubs, which were super easy and made our skin so smooth. I actually didn’t realize how much of an impact a sugar scrub can have on dry skin, it was like night and day. Trust me, we will be making these again.
- Face masks – we picked up three from Lush: Don’t Look at Me, Mask of Magnaminty and Rosy Cheeks. They’ve also got a handy guide for knowing what mask is right for your skin here.
- Mani & pedi gear – nail polish remover, nail polish, tow separators, nail file, etc.
- Sugar scrubs (recipes below)
Lavender Coconut
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil
- 1 tbs of dried lavender
- 4 drops of food colouring (2 drops of blue, 2 of red), but this is optional
Orange Vanilla Honey
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1 tbs honey
- 1 tbs orange zest
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- 15 drops of orange oil or orange oil blend (we used “Unwind” from Saje, which is a mix of orange, bergamot and lavender)
Green Tea Jasmine
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1 tbs of green tea matcha powder
- Contents of one green tea bag
- 20-25 drops of jasmine oil blend (jasmine is a subtle fragrance so we found more was more with this one – and jasmine oil can be expensive so we used the 10% blend from Saje)
The great thing about sugar scrubs is that the base of each one is the same, so it’s pretty efficient to make a couple different combinations all at once (plus then you can swap!). We started with three mixing bowls and added one cup of sugar to each, followed by the ¼ cup of coconut oil (at room temperature, we didn’t want it to melt the sugar and kept clumpy). Work the sugar and coconut oil together with a spoon until it’s combined. From there, you can add your essential oils and remaining ingredients in, working everything together with a spoon. We then transferred the scrubs in to mason jars and voila! They make really great gifts as well, because who doesn’t love soft skin!
Now, I don’t know about you, but our version of R&R includes a cocktail. We were inspired by the idea of spa water, which is usually fruit or vegetable infused water meant to bring hydration to the next level. So we mixed green tea, cucumber, gin and honey syrup to make a creation we’re quite jazzed about: a green tea cucumber collins. You can get the recipe here.

This looks so good! What a fun gift to make for friends or to enjoy yourself!
Thanks for sharing! Do the products keep long?
We’ve usually used them quickly enough that we don’t know their shelf life exactly, but they definitely keep for a couple of months!
