Have Fun with our Hot Guy Playing Cards
Yes, these are exactly what you think they are, and they’re the most fun to play. Some backstory here: when we were in seventh grade, we decided we were going to take a regular ol’ deck of cards and label them with different boys. The red suits were boys we knew and the black suits were celebrities, all labeled in order of hotness (meaning Aces were the most attractive and the two’s not so much). This was literally done in pen by hand and we played a game we call “The Hottest Hand” A LOT. Pretty sure one of the Aces was JTT or something (if you know, you know).
So, when we first launched the blog we revisited the game, making the ultimate celebrity deck (because it’s just weird to include people we know at this age), and “The Hottest Hand” was one of the first activities we featured for you guys to download, print on cardboard, cut out and play away. But, what we were really longing for was an actual custom deck of cards. So recently we decided to just go for it and made a real deck courtesy of Make Playing Cards. And the deck makes us so so happy. We’ve come along way since our JTT days and now the Aces are Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Gosling, Michael B(ae) Jordan and Jake Gyllenhaal.
This deck can be used to play The Hottest Hand (instructions below) which makes for a great girls night or just played as a regular deck of cards. It definitely makes Crazy Eights more interesting.
- The playing cards. If you’re interested in having a deck of your own, definitely send us an email at [email protected] or shoot us a DM on Instagram and we can hook you up! It makes for a great one of a kind gift and spices up a bachelorette pre-game!
- Paper and pen (to keep score, because once you start you’ll want to play multiple rounds).
As the title of the game suggests, the goal is to have the “hottest” hand, which would be determined by the points your cards accumulate. The numerical cards are worth their face value (meaning an 10 of spades would be worth 10 points) and the face cards would be tallied as follows:
- Jack – 11
- Queen – 12
- King – 13
- Ace 14
To play, shuffle the deck and hand out five cards each. Leave the remaining cards in a pile, turning over the top card. Rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to go first (or if there’s a big group whoever has the earliest birthday goes first). The first player has the option to pick up a new card from the pile, or pick up the card that’s turned over. Once a card is drawn, a card must be discarded to finish the turn, so you’ll always have five cards in your hand. Once the deck runs out, it’s time to reveal your hands and tally them up using the point system above. The person with the best hand wins, but this will always spark a heated debate because as much as we all want points, we also have our personal favourites. This is truly where the fun comes in – especially for us as we all have different taste in men. We’d love to hear what your best hand would be, so def let us know in the comments.
You better believe that we’ve got a classic cocktail to pair with this game. We suggest mixing up a Cosmopolitan (yes, made famous by the ladies of Sex and the City) to live you best life while admiring the men on these cards. Grab the recipe here.
