The Os-Kir Royale
We wanted a drink glam enough for the Oscars so obviously that meant using the leftover gold sugar from the popcorn to create something fancy. You may have heard of a Kir Royale, a traditional French cocktail consisting of Cassis topped with champagne. It’s pretty good, but we opted for a twist on the classic, grabbing Amaretto in place of Cassis (which you’ll learn that Alyssa will put in anything given the choice) to make it really golden.
- 1 Lemon (or your preferred citrus)
- ½ oz Amaretto
- Sparkling Wine
- Gold Pearlized Sugar
Place your Gold Sugar into a small plate. Grab a wedge from your lemon and cut it halfway through the centre, using the slice to run along the rim of your flute where you want the sugar to stick. Dip the flute into the sprinkles, making sure you don’t miss any spots along the sides. From there just add your amaretto to the bottom of the glass, topping with your favourite sparkling wine. Be careful to stick to the centre of the glass while pouring so you don’t disturb your glittery rim! Cheers!
