Get Crafty with DIY Framed Quotes, the Perfect Addition to Your Photo Wall
Sometimes, all we want to do is get together and create something cool. It takes us back to our projects growing up – sometimes for school (we made awesome sets for a play in grade six that involved huge pieces of cardboard, paint and good ol’ construction paper) and sometimes just for fun. For us, arts and crafts isn’t just for kids, we be crafting for the rest of our lives.
Today’s project was jumping on the photo wall band wagon and creating some fun pieces. We love the dictionary definition trend that’s so hot on Pinterest right now, so we wanted to make our own using our preferred lingo of the moment.
We had just as much fun brainstorming our favourite words and the definitions to accompany them as we did creating the final product and admiring our work. We narrowed our choices down to just three: Crushable, JOMO and Killing It, but we had a pretty long list of options at the end.
Our Crushable print is perfect for your home bar area, while Killing It is great for a closet or front entrance and JOMO is just made for your living room (assuming that’s where you’re usually watching the new Sandy Bullock flick).
- Frames – we used this one from Ikea, but here’s a similar version from Amazon
- Definitions – download ours here’s Crushable, JOMO and Killing It (they’re perforated at 8 x 10 inches in size to fit the frame we purchased, but are set up to print on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper or create your own)
- Scissors
- Creative juices
Once you buy your frames, all you need to do is print your definitions on card stock paper (it cost us $4 to print all three), cut them to fit your frames (as needed, you may choose to just tape them to the back and use the lines as a guide to centre it) and insert them into the frames. If you plan to hang them as part of a photo wall, this is our favourite tutorial for mapping it all out before you reach for a hammer and nails.
We also crafted a cool cocktail to sip at during the activity, which is fittingly a twist on the classic cocktail The Last Word. We call our version The Last Hurrah. You can grab the recipe here.
The Last Word
This playlist isn’t on theme with our cocktail syrups in any way, it’s just a really wicked playlist we think you’ll love. We felt pretty badass making these syrups while listening to boss babes like Billie Eilish, Halsey, SZA, Amy Winehouse and more.
