Take Your Die Hard Screening Up a Notch with a Drinking Game
Who doesn’t love Die Hard? It’s a classic film featuring one of the best action hero’s of our time: Bruce Willis.
Many people watch this movie every Christmas and officially dub it a Christmas Movie. We are those people. Because it is. If you’re not familiar with the film, then here’s the premise (and FYI you’ve been missing out since 1988): On Christmas Eve, New York cop John McClane (our man Bruce) travels to Los Angeles to visit his estranged wife in her company’s office building while they celebrates their company holiday party. Festivities are soon ruined by a gang of European criminals, led by Alan Rickman’s Hans Gruber, who take the guests hostage, leaving it up to McClane to single-handedly save the day.
As you might imagine, there’s a ton of ass-kicking that takes places, amidst moments of Christmas cheer. But it’s mostly ass-kicking, which is why it’s so great. This film made John McClane a legend, and spawned not one but FIVE sequels. All great films.
We love this movie so much we gave it the drinking game treatment this year, which is one of our highest honours. It now joins Hocus Pocus and Home Alone in our drinking game arsenal. And it’s a boozy one.
- Our Die Hard drinking game rules, which you can download by signing up for our mailing list below (fair trade off right?)
- Die Hard. You can buy it on Amazon here
- An average to low percentage alcoholic beverage (we’ve recommended one below)
- A desire to “get in one” (our favourite slang for intoxicated)
The rules tell you everything you need to know about when to drink, and trust us, it’s frequently so go easy on those sips.
Speaking of sips, we’ve got a drink to recommend for this game. If you’re not going the beer route, this is a great big batch cocktail option because it’s crisp, refreshing and not too boozy. Grab the recipe here.
