Get Tipsy With Our Scream Movie Drinking Game
When we think of classic scary movies, Scream is at the top of our list. We’re 80’s babies, so when it came out in 1996, we were just a touch too young for it, but it definitely went into rotation during our early teenage years. We remember being scared shitless, especially during that opening scene. And despite the technology advancing rapidly since then, it still holds up. Because we totally remember having a landline and picking up the phone not knowing who was on the other end. And that’s what makes it so scary. The kids these days will never know what that’s like!
Every October we binge watch scary movies (here’s our 31 favourites), and you better believe Scream is in our rotation. And because we know the movie inside out, we gave it the drinking game treatment. If you know the movie as well as we do then you’ll know how tipsy you’d be getting just from looking at the rules.
Fun fact: Drew Barrymore was originally cast as the lead in the film, but she fought for her character to die in the first scene because her biggest pet peeve was knowing the main characters would always survive in horror films – so she considered her opening scene to be an opportunity to show that typical horror movie rules need not apply. And we gotta admit, the opening of Scream is one of the all-time best horror movie scenes ever.

This part is easy. Throw on the film and follow the drinking game instructions – taking one, two or three sips every time a cue occurs. And if you’re feeling wild, commit to our Bonus section, which will have you drinking every time the phone rings.
You need a spooky cocktail to sip for this one. Give our Dusk ‘Til Dawn cocktail a shot. It’s not to boozy and not too sweet, making it perfect to have a handful of. Grab the recipe here.
