The Guinness Flip
We discovered this delicious cocktail when we did a scotch tasting and the bartender wanted to make a drink he thought would be up our alley. And well, he was right.
A flip is a style of mixed drink that contains a spirit, egg, sugar, spice, and sometimes cream. The term “flip” came from the process of making these guys – flipping the drink back and forth between a cocktail shaker to produce a smooth drink.
Now, I know you might think it’s weird to put an an egg in a cocktail, but think of it like a richer version of egg nog. Now you’re on board!
- 1 oz. black rum
- 0.5 oz. sweetened condensed milk (if you don’t have this on hand you could substitute it with cream and sugar)
- 1/2 of a fresh egg
- 1.5 oz. Guinness
- Grated nutmeg
- Cherries for garnish
Combine all wet ingredients in a cocktail shaker and dry shake without ice. Add ice to the shaker and continue to shake until the mixture is smooth and frothy. Strain cocktail into a goblet-style glass and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg. Drink!
